Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
