Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that challenges conventional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the formal release, "An unusual meeting draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of forbidden rituals and monstrous changes resonate through the shadows." The narrative features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden group.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will acquire an unique katana in addition to numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that unmistakably referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
